Ocean Animal Fun

Saturday, June 15, 2013 No comments
The month of May kind of got away from me.  It was all kinds of crazy busy and on top of it all, I got pneumonia.  As a result, I have neglected my little blog.

We spent the last two weeks of school learning about ocean animals.

We did some informational writing:

Fractional parts of a set:

 and wrote some cinquain poems:

Have you checked out the cute clip art by Laura Strickland?  I used her flip flop clip art below.   You can check out her super cute creations by clicking on the links below.

Oh. My. Word. What a busy month this has been.  Three. More. Days.  I can do this!
We finished up the year learning about sea animals.    I made a sea animal fact book and we focused on one animal a day.  I made two different covers - one for boys and one for girls.

Here is peak into the crab pages:

 Sea Anemone pages:

We made sea anemones with paper towel rolls (cut down) and tissue paper but I forgot to take a picture.

I will putting this in my TpT and TN stores at some point.

I am envious of you teachers who are already on break.  I am in need of a couple of weeks of down time, sleeping in, reading a book, and NOTHING to do with school.  :-)

Goldfish Cracker Graphing/Math Freebie

Here is a graphing freebie I will be doing with my class when we start our ocean animal study.  It also includes:
       1.  comparing number practice with >, <, and =
       2.  addition practice

First, you need to get some of these:
Divide them into snack baggies for each child in your classroom.  Do not put more than 6 of any particular color because the graph only goes to 6.

Then snag yourself a copy of this recording sheet by clicking on the picture below.

I made this Sea Animal Fun Pack with 5 math and 5 literacy centers to go along with our ocean animal study.  It will be available in my TpT store and TN store.

I tried to get all my ocean animal science stuff together to go in this packet as well but can't seem to find the time to get it done.  I will add that as a separate pack you can purchase later, but it may even be summer before it gets done.
