Zebras, Leopards and Gingerbread Graph

Monday, December 10, 2012 2 comments
We've been busy learning about zebras and leopards this past week.  It goes along with our story for the week - "How Leopard Got His Spots."

We wrote about zebras:

We did a Venn diagram comparing leopards and zebras and then the students had to use their Venn diagram to write a sentence telling how zebras and leopards are the same and how they are different:

Here is one of my kiddos doing the "Spin a Character" center that you can grab for yourself for free by clicking on the picture below:

We did get in one or two Christmas activities as well.  I read several versions of "The Gingerbread Man" and we did several activites with that.  One of the favorite activities was the gingerbread/snowman marshmallow graph:

If you are interested in doing this with your kids, then you need these two packages of marshmallows:

and then you need to grab yourself a copy of the graph by clicking on the picture below.

Goldfish Cracker Graphing/Math Freebie

Here is a graphing freebie I will be doing with my class when we start our ocean animal study.  It also includes:
       1.  comparing number practice with >, <, and =
       2.  addition practice

First, you need to get some of these:
Divide them into snack baggies for each child in your classroom.  Do not put more than 6 of any particular color because the graph only goes to 6.

Then snag yourself a copy of this recording sheet by clicking on the picture below.

I made this Sea Animal Fun Pack with 5 math and 5 literacy centers to go along with our ocean animal study.  It will be available in my TpT store and TN store.

I tried to get all my ocean animal science stuff together to go in this packet as well but can't seem to find the time to get it done.  I will add that as a separate pack you can purchase later, but it may even be summer before it gets done.

First, you need to buy a bag of these (got mine at Wal-Mart):

Divide them up into enough individual packages for each child in your classroom.

Make a copy of the recording sheet below for each child in your class and let the fun begin.  You can grab a copy of the recording sheet by clicking on the picture.
