Daily Math Calendar and Math Journals

Wednesday, April 4, 2012
Back in January I switched from doing our daily math calendar on the bulletin board (wall) to doing it on the promethean board and it has made a BIG difference.  I downloaded a generic calendar from Promethean Planet, then deleted pages I wouldn't use and then created some of my own pages

I also added some flipchart pages that cover concepts we are working on that students seem to struggle with.
When we get to this part, the students get out their math journals and I present a problem, they work it out in their journal, I walk around the room and check and then we work it out together on the promethean board.  This has become one of my favorite parts of the day because now the kids are actually participating and there is so much learning going on.   I took a picture of some of the journal pages from one of my sweeties math journals so you could get a get a look at what I'm talking about.

Part, part, whole and fact family practice:

Money (dimes and pennies):

Adding and subtracting 1, adding and subtracting 10:

Fractional parts of a set (I took out some stickers and stuck them in their journal and they wrote the fractional parts):

 Happy Hump Day, ya'll!
