Fractional Parts and Journeys Unit 6 Sight Words

Saturday, March 30, 2013
We worked on fractional parts of a set this week and did a few fun activities with it.  I bought a bag of spring foam stickers and gave each child two colors of the same shape and had them write the fractional parts.

We also used our Do-A-Dots for fractional parts of a caterpillar.

We had our first grade Easter Egg hunt on Thursday at the park. My coworkers and I couldn't resist getting in on the fun and we had our picture made with the Easter bunny.

If you teach Journeys, here is a copy of the sight word RAN boards that go with Unit 6.  Click on the picture to grab yourself a copy.

Totally random, but I think my brother kind of looks like Matt Damon.  I think its the nose.  He would probably kill me if he knew I posted this.  What do you think?

Happy Easter everyone!

  1. Dear Dawn,
I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that I have been following your blog and TPT store for a few months. You have been such an inspiration to me. My district adopted HMH Journeys last year after many years of doing R & W Workshop. I felt so discouraged and couldn't figure out how to add "my style" to this basal program. You have helped me find a happy medium! I've finally gotten my groove back. So, thank you for your activities and great tips.
    Sincerely,
    Meghan

    1. Meghan,
Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I was feeling very discouraged as well a couple of years ago and I found teacher blogs that inspired me and helped me get my "spark" back. After following blogs for a year, I decided to start my own blog and with much encouragement from a couple of my coworkers, I started a TpT store. I am glad I could pay it forward. Good luck and thanks again for taking the time to let me know. It is greatly appreciated!!
